Suggested Use in Transitional Water Areas |
|
Supplement Method |
|
1. |
Select 1 or 2
pieces of SmartBait from bag. |
|
2. |
Place 1
or 2 pieces SmartBait securely
into trap using: ö bait bag (3/8" diameter or less performs best) ö
spike or skiver (sharp spikes works best) ö bait well (smaller
diameter mesh is better) ö bait hook or wire ö DO NOT use bait
jars or bait cups. |
|
3. |
Supplement
SmartBait with your
traditional bait for the first 5-7 days depending on water conditions.
This allows SmartBait to equalize and reach peak effectiveness. |
|
4. |
Replenish
traditional bait as needed for the initial 5-7 days. |
|
5. |
Add an
additional piece(s) of SmartBait after 14-17 days. |
|
6. |
Repeat
throughout season to insure your trap fishes 24/7. |
|
Pre-Soak Method |
|
1. |
Pre-soak SmartBait in a barrel or tote of seawater for 5-7 days ö
1.5
gallons of water per pound of SmartBait ö
Maintain water temperature
between 45 - 65 F (7 - 19 C) ö
This enables protein release before
entering frigid water ö
Do not use tap water or well water ö
Replacing water after the first day may improve results |
|

|
IMPORTANT |
|
Equalization
time and longevity of SmartBait will vary with fishing grounds and time of
year, primarily due to water temperature, weather conditions and type of
ocean bottom. Typically, colder water increases equalization time and also
enhances the longevity of SmartBait. Do not use a bait jar or bait cup as
they tend to restrict the scent trail given off by SmartBait.
